Detroit Airport, 20 miles southwest of Detroit has three passenger terminals: Smith, Berry and the new McNamara Terminal. The McNamara Terminal has perhaps even saved the airport from obscurity, the airport previously lying very lowly in the United States airport ratings. Cheap car hire at Detroit Metropolitan Airport can be booked directly or via the internet to ensure your car is ready for your arrival.
The new terminal actually has three concourses and serves a host of major international airline companies. The mile-long Concourse A has moving walkways and an overhead tram, with an underground tunnel linking it to concourses B and C. It caters for many international airline companies.
Passengers with disabilities will find the airport has facilities to assist, including accessibility on shuttle buses. There are exchange bureaux available in all three terminals as well as ATMs and Customer Service helpdesks. Assistants in distinctive green jackets await your queries. Food outlets are easily found through out the airport and the Smith Terminal has a tequila themed restaurant-bar, The José Cuervo Tequilería.
Also situated in the Smith Terminal on the lower level, SMART bus No. 285 can be found offering services to Detroit and its surrounding area. You will actually need two buses to get into the town centre, however. Although there is no bus stop at the McNamara terminal, passengers can take the free airport shuttle to the Smith Terminal.
Outside all terminal exits, metered taxis and airport mini-van are in operation. Cheap car hire at Detroit Airport is an affordable way to ensure your transportation convenience. The 20-mile cab ride into downtown Detroit will take 30 to 45 minutes.
