The instructions for pick up

The instructions for pick up should have said to call the staff for a pick up as it was a long walk in the heat and poorly sign posted. When we got there they said we should have called them for a lift!

Location information for Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a slice of Britain off the foot of Spain. It is a bit slice of land a few miles long that contains the aptly named Rock of Gibraltar and unbeatable shopping. There are no beaches here but a myriad of attractions and facilities keep tourists entertained. Driving down from the Costa del Sol by hire car is easily done.

The Rock is a 200-metre chunk in the middle of Gibraltar that can be driven up, believe it or not. Once up there visitors can check out the magnificent vistas below of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. There are also curious Barbary apes patrolling The Rock, which are harmless but often a pest.

Underneath The Rock is St Michael's Cave; the largest of a set of caves that regularly stages concerts in its mega cavern. Not far from here are the old British fortifications and the Gibraltar Museum. The museum tells the story of Gibraltar and comes with a Muslim bathhouse.

The harbour at Gibraltar is a showpiece. Million-pound yachts and cruisers moor up here and you can take in a boat tour and see pods of dolphins in the Bay of Algeciras from Marina Bay. Nearby Watergardens Quay is also worth checking out, while tax-free shopping is all around in Gibraltar – Main Street has the best of it along with the pick of cafés and bars.

Car hire in Gibraltar is popular for checking out the nearby Costa del Sol. There's a new road along there making getting to and from the likes of Marbella and Torremolinos straightforward.
