The main gateway to breathtaking Egypt is the Cairo International Airport where most non-stop flights from European, African, North American, and Asian cities are being welcomed. Located in Heliopolis, it is 22 kilometres away from Cairo but passengers are provided with different transportation options such as cheap car hire in Cairo International Airport so they can easily get there.

Two terminals are housed within the airport grounds and passengers can easily get to and from each terminal by riding a complimentary shuttle that runs every 30 minutes. Terminal 1 is called the Old Airport and Terminal 2 is referred to as the New Airport. Each terminal has enough facilities and services that fulfill the basic travel needs of every passenger.

A 24-hour currency exchange, post office, ATMs, and banks are found in both terminals. A bar refreshes passengers at the departures halls or they can head over to the basic restaurant to satiate their hunger or appetite. Last-minute shopping can be done in the airport through Duty-Free shops, gift shops, newsagents, boutiques, and bookshops while business travellers can conduct quick meetings or fulfill the demands of business travel at the business centre of Terminal 1. More information about Cairo and the airport are provided to passengers by the staff behind information counters in both terminals and at the transit hall.

Buses and taxis run every now and then from the airport to the city. However, a more convenient way to get to the city is by availing cheap car hire at Cairo International Airport. Passengers are advised to book for car rental before arriving for less hassle and to ensure that the vehicle they want is available.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
